Secure by design — from SCIF to production.
Defense programs need facilities that are accredited, not just built. We site, secure and deliver space that meets ICD 705, physical-security and export-control standards from day one.
In defense, the building is a security control.
A defense facility is judged first on whether it can be accredited. SCIFs, closed areas and secure manufacturing all begin with ICD 705, security-in-depth and perimeter standoff — decisions locked into the property long before fit-out. Steele Group finds and delivers space that meets the protocols before your program depends on it.
What this footprint really demands.
Defense is defined by security, not square footage. Here's where this mission pushes hardest — and why accreditation drives every other decision.
What kind of property works for a SCIF.
Single-tenant & standalone
Standalone buildings and campuses deliver the security-in-depth and controlled perimeter that shared, multi-tenant space can't — the strongest starting point for accreditation.
Build-to-suit
New construction lets ICD 705, TEMPEST and perimeter standoff be engineered from the slab up — the cleanest, fastest path to an accredited facility.
Secure industrial & flex
Low-rise industrial with a secure yard suits defense manufacturing, integration and test — high-bay, power and standoff inside a single controllable envelope.
Hardened conversions
Select existing buildings can be upgraded to closed-area or SCIF standard where slab-to-slab construction, system isolation and standoff are achievable. Ground-floor and shared-lobby space rarely qualifies.
Modular & prefabricated SCIF
Factory-built modular SCIFs install into an existing shell or onto a secure pad, pre-engineered to ICD 705 and TEMPEST. They compress schedule and reduce on-site security-construction risk where fixed construction would take too long.
Previously accredited space
Space that already carries recent accreditation can often be re-inspected and reactivated rather than rebuilt. We assess whether the prior construction still meets current ICD 705 standards before you assume a full build.
